The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 27, 2026, when the suspects allegedly broke into the establishment around 3:30 a.m. The crime was discovered by an employee arriving for the opening shift at 11:00 a.m., prompting a police report to be filed shortly thereafter. According to store owner Deb Achen, the intruders targeted specific high-value items, including cash from the register, electronics such as a laptop and cameras, and Nike footwear. Notably, the suspects stole all funds that had been raised by the community for a colleague named Nancy, who is currently battling cancer. While the backroom storage area was entered, items stored there remained untouched, suggesting the perpetrators focused on easily accessible cash and portable electronics. The break-in caused damage to the rear entrance, which was pried open, but the business was able to secure the premises and install new security cameras by Thursday afternoon. Achen shared security images of the suspects, describing them as two younger men, and noted that community members have begun identifying individuals based on the footage. The total value of the stolen inventory is still being determined due to the loss of the business laptop. In response to the theft, Achen established a GoFundMe campaign to replace the stolen cancer fund donations, which has already received over $4,000 in contributions as of Friday evening.
