According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., one suspect approached the victim and gestured as though he had a weapon tucked into his waistband before pushing the driver off the moped. As the victim fell to the ground, two other suspects joined in the assault. During the attack, the first suspect fled eastbound on the victim's black Zenen moped, which bears New Jersey registration 6AWN1. Authorities have provided descriptions for the three suspects. Suspect #1 is described as wearing a gray sweater and dark-colored sweatpants. Suspect #2 is described as wearing a dark gray sweater and dark-colored sweatpants. Suspect #3 is described as being dressed entirely in black clothing.
