Authorities in New Jersey are actively searching for Raheem Rhett, a 36-year-old man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Jersey City. The incident took place early Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Orient Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello confirmed that Rhett is the primary suspect in the case. Responding officers discovered Jenardo Tejada, 38, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tejada was transported to Jersey City Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The cause and manner of death remain pending with the Regional Medical Examiner's Office.
