Authorities in Emanuel County, Georgia, are searching for one or more suspects responsible for a deadly drive-by shooting that occurred early Monday morning. The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. at the residence of Angela and Kenneth Gillis, located on King Circle Drive in Swainsboro. According to Emanuel County Sheriff Tyson Stephens, investigators determined that a suspect or suspects fired multiple rounds into the home from the roadway, with a specific concentration of fire directed toward the master bedroom. Several bullets penetrated the window and wall, striking the victims inside. Angela Gillis, 40, succumbed to her injuries and died at Emanuel County Medical Center. Her husband, Kenneth Gillis, 48, was initially transported to the same facility before being flown to a hospital in Augusta for further treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition. Sheriff Stephens stated that the investigation has not yet revealed a motive but does not consider the shooting to be random. The Eastman office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and its Crime Scene Unit are actively assisting the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office with the ongoing probe.
