Authorities in Washington state have launched an active manhunt for 24-year-old Hayes McCloud, who is wanted in connection with two separate homicides that occurred early Wednesday morning in Pierce County. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and Tacoma Police Department are investigating the deaths as a connected case, believing the victims were related family members. The first incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. in Puyallup, where deputies responded to a home near the corner of Woodland Avenue East and 126th Street East. Investigators discovered a man with multiple fatal injuries, with evidence indicating the violence began in a bedroom and extended outside. Shortly after, at just after 3:00 a.m., Tacoma Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 6900 block of East D Street. Officers found an adult male with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene. Public Information Officer Carly Cappetto stated that the murders appear to be targeted attacks on related family members, though she cautioned that the motive is not yet known and it is unclear if others are in danger. McCloud is described as 5-foot-8 and weighing 115 pounds. Authorities are specifically asking the public to look for his vehicle, a 1996 Toyota 4Runner with Washington license plates CWW5132. The suspect is currently at large, and his whereabouts are unknown. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding McCloud’s location or the incidents to contact law enforcement immediately by calling 911. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives and crime scene technicians work to gather further evidence linking the two scenes.
