Bend Police are currently conducting an active manhunt for a wanted suspect following a traffic stop that escalated into a foot chase on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The incident began at approximately 4:47 p.m. when officers were en route to respond to a reported shooting threat at St. Charles Bend Hospital. During their response, an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle associated with a man wanted for a domestic assault that occurred on July 7. The suspect fled the vehicle and entered an apartment complex located near the intersection of NE Neff Road and 27th Street in east Bend. Deschutes County 911 Dispatch issued an emergency alert to nearly 2,000 nearby homes and businesses, urging residents to stay indoors and contact authorities if they spotted the individual. Law enforcement established a perimeter around the area and deployed multiple drones and K-9 units to conduct a thorough search, but the suspect has not yet been located. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black T-shirt, gray camouflage cargo shorts, white socks, and black shoes. He also has multiple tattoos extending onto his neck. Police have determined that the initial report of a shooting threat at the hospital was unfounded and unrelated to the manhunt. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area of 27th Street and Neff Road and to remain indoors. If anyone sees the suspect, they are instructed to call 911 immediately. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect remains at large as of this report.
