Newark Police are actively seeking two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting incident that occurred in Newark, New Jersey. The suspects are described as two men who entered a grocery store located in the 200 block of Hawthorne Avenue on September 8, 2025, at approximately 4:55 p.m. According to authorities, the individuals wore ski masks during the crime. One suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at a customer, while the second demanded cash from a grocery store employee behind the register. Investigators state that the suspects became dissatisfied with the amount of money obtained and attempted to steal additional merchandise before exiting the business. Upon leaving, the suspects were confronted by the husband of the employee. A struggle ensued, during which the man was shot and subsequently transported to University Hospital for treatment. The investigation remains active, and police are urging the public to assist in identifying the individuals. Suspect #1 is described as wearing black-and-gray sneakers, dark gray shorts, a silver shirt, a cross-body bag, a silver necklace with a pendant, and a multi-colored ski mask. Suspect #2 was wearing white sneakers, khaki cargo pants, a white Nike zip-up jacket, and a black ski mask.
