The Madera County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol Oakhurst Area, is actively seeking the public’s assistance in locating a wanted suspect. The individual is an adult male, estimated to be between 55 and 65 years old, and is described as wearing green and black pajama pants and a black hooded sweatshirt. He also possesses distinctive facial tattoos. The suspect is wanted for multiple offenses, including vehicle theft under Vehicle Code 10851, trespassing under Penal Code 602, and grand theft under Penal Code 487. The incident timeline began on Sunday, July 12, 2026, when a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) was reported stolen from the Road 416 area. The vehicle was later located traveling northbound on Highway 41. During a brief pursuit by California Highway Patrol officers, the suspect abandoned the UTV near the intersection of Highway 41 and Celechovsky Court and fled on foot into the brush toward Road 425. Subsequently, the suspect was captured on a Ring camera on Serpa Canyon tampering with a residential water pump. When CHP officers arrived at the scene, he fled into the brush again. CHP Air Operations, utilizing helicopter H-42, conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect due to dense vegetation and rugged terrain. The suspect was last seen just before 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2026, at Camp Oakhurst off Mudge Ranch Road. Camp staff escorted him off the property, and he was last observed in the vicinity of Mudge Ranch Road and Thornberry Summit Road. Authorities believe the suspect has continued to trespass on private property and commit grand theft in the area since fleeing law enforcement. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact them at (559) 675-7770. Tips may also be submitted via email to MCSOTip@maderacounty.com, through Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867), by texting “Tip MaderaSO” to 888777, or through the Madera County Sheriff’s Mobile App at MaderaSheriffApp.com.
