The New York City Police Department’s 108th Precinct is actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an elderly assault that occurred in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens. The incident took place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of 43rd Street and 47th Avenue, close to Lance Corporal Thomas P. Noonan Playground. According to police reports, a 67-year-old woman was walking along the sidewalk when a stranger approached her from behind. The assailant cut in front of the victim, and when the older woman stepped aside to avoid collision, the suspect stepped in front of her again, slapped her across the face, and cursed at her before fleeing eastbound on 37th Avenue toward Greenpoint Avenue. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries. The suspect is described as having a medium complexion and a slim build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a light-blue long-sleeved top, dark pants, orange sneakers, and had her head wrapped in a non-religious pink head covering. The NYPD has released surveillance images to assist in the identification and capture of the individual. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to the suspect's arrest and indictment.
