Smithfield Police have identified Steven Jack Wayne Wolfe as the suspect wanted in connection with a series of overnight break-ins targeting three businesses located in the 900 block of North Brightleaf Boulevard. The investigation began on Wednesday morning around 8:10 a.m., when officers were dispatched to 903 N. Brightleaf Blvd. following a report of a commercial breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers discovered clear signs of forced entry, and the business owner reported that money had been stolen from the premises. While canvassing the immediate area for additional clues or evidence, officers discovered two additional commercial break-ins at neighboring addresses, specifically 929 N. Brightleaf Blvd. and 937 N. Brightleaf Blvd. Detectives and a crime scene investigator were subsequently called to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation. Police have not publicly identified the specific businesses involved in the crimes. Wolfe has been charged with a significant number of offenses related to the incidents, including two counts of breaking and entering, attempted breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of injury to real property, safe cracking, possession of burglary tools, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and larceny from a motor vehicle. Authorities confirm that Wolfe remains at large and is wanted on outstanding warrants. The Smithfield Police Department is urging the public to remain vigilant.
