The investigation stems from a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday night, July 22, 2026, in Gaffney, South Carolina. According to deputies, the incident took place in the parking lot of the Connecticut Village Apartments, located at 409 East Junior High Road, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Authorities report that the victim, identified by the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office as 40-year-old Prentiss Deshun Hollaway, was involved in an argument with Currence when the shooting occurred. Hollaway was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies have described Currence as armed and dangerous and are urging the public to exercise extreme caution. The Sheriff’s Office has stated that anyone found to be helping or hiding Currence may face criminal charges themselves. Investigators are seeking information from the public to locate the suspect.
