Newport police have identified and issued an arrest warrant for Tyquan Johnson, who is wanted in connection with a double shooting that occurred in the Park Holm neighborhood. The incident took place on the evening of July 19, around 9:55 p.m., near the intersection of Truman Street and Rosedale Avenue. Investigators determined that the gunfire erupted behind the residences at 41 and 43 Truman Road. Two men, identified as residents of Newport aged 22 and 25, were struck in their lower extremities during the attack. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Newport Hospital for medical treatment. Police have characterized the shooting as a targeted, isolated incident and stated that there is no ongoing threat to the general public. Johnson is currently at large and is wanted on charges of felony assault with a firearm and firing in a compact area. In addition to apprehending Johnson, detectives are actively attempting to identify and question a second man who is believed to have information regarding the shooting. Police have not clarified whether this individual is considered a suspect or a witness at this time.
