The incident took place on Friday, July 10, 2026, just before 4:30 p.m. The victim, a 15-year-old girl, was standing in front of a home at 154-21 Cross Island Parkway when the group of moped riders approached her. According to police reports, two of the strangers confronted the teenager, and one forcibly removed her necklace, which was valued at approximately $100. The remaining suspects circled the area briefly before speeding off northbound on the Cross Island Parkway toward the Whitestone Expressway. The victim sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. The NYPD has released surveillance images and detailed descriptions of the suspects. One suspect is described as having a dark complexion, wearing a black T-shirt, denim shorts, and black sunglasses. The other six suspects are described as having medium complexions. Their attire includes black hooded sweatshirts, white sneakers, and various combinations of black and white T-shirts with shorts.
