An unidentified gunman remains at large following a mass shooting that occurred in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident took place early Sunday morning, July 27, 2026, around 2:09 a.m., in the 900 block of North Central Park Avenue near Augusta Boulevard. According to the Chicago Police Department, the suspect opened fire on a group of individuals gathered outdoors, resulting in six people being hospitalized. A 911 caller reported hearing up to 30 gunshots during the attack. Among the victims, two men are in critical condition. A 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and a 36-year-old man with several gunshot wounds was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, both in critical condition. The remaining four victims, whose ages range from 33 to 46, are in good condition. They include a 39-year-old man shot in the thigh and a 46-year-old woman with wounds to her back and foot, both taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County; a 34-year-old woman treated at Mount Sinai Hospital for a hip wound; and a 33-year-old man treated at Humboldt Park Health for a gunshot wound to his finger. As of Sunday afternoon, no suspects have been taken into custody, and authorities have not publicly identified a motive for the shooting. Area detectives are actively conducting an ongoing investigation. The Chicago Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or location to come forward. The suspect is currently considered at large and has not been apprehended.
