The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an extensive manhunt for 26-year-old Kevin Clay Adams, also known as KC Adams. Adams is wanted for firing shots at two deputies and fleeing from law enforcement during an incident that occurred on Friday afternoon. The search has now entered its third day, with officials providing updates on the evolving situation. The last confirmed sighting of Adams was on Saturday at approximately 3:30 p.m. He is described as standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 125 pounds. At the time of his last appearance, he was wearing a blue shirt, gray pants, and work boots. The focused search area has shifted from the initial incident site near the fire department on Highway 13 in Polkville to an area adjacent to the Bienville National Forest, approximately three miles east. This new zone was selected because several of Adams’ known associates reside there, and officials believe he is familiar with the terrain of the national forest, which complicates the search efforts. Law enforcement agencies, including the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and assisting partners, are actively searching wooded areas, trails, cutovers, and storage buildings in the vicinity. Adams left his cell phone at the scene of the shooting on Friday. Additionally, officials reported an attempted theft of a four-wheeler from a residence in the Polkville community, which was thwarted when the homeowner removed the keys. Sheriff Joel Houston has thanked the public and law enforcement partners for their cooperation and assistance. Residents in the area are advised to keep homes and vehicles locked, remove keys from recreational vehicles, and remain vigilant.
