Carcamo-Santiago is charged with first- and second-degree murder following the death of Perez-Mendez inside a residence located in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court in Columbia. Detectives believe the victim suffered injuries consistent with strangulation and may have been killed during the overnight hours of July 25-26. Police responded to the scene on the afternoon of July 26 after an acquaintance of the suspect discovered Perez-Mendez deceased in the suspect’s bedroom.
