Authorities in Montana are conducting a massive manhunt for Michael Paul Brown, a 45-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at the Owl Bar in Anaconda. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. local time, resulted in the deaths of four individuals. According to the bar’s owner, David Gwerder, the victims included the bartender and three patrons. Gwerder stated that Brown, who lives next door to the establishment, knew everyone inside and had no known prior conflicts with them, suggesting the violence was unprovoked. Brown is described as armed and dangerous. He was last seen in the Stump Town area, a wooded and mountainous region just west of Anaconda. Law enforcement agencies, including the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, the Granite County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montana Highway Patrol, have converged on the area to locate the suspect. Residents have been placed on lockdown, with businesses securing their premises and schools implementing shelter-in-place protocols. The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center has advised the public to stay out of the Stump Town area and surrounding locations. If anyone spots Brown, who was reportedly wearing a tie-dyed shirt, blue jeans, and an orange bandana, they are urged not to approach him but to contact 911 immediately. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is monitoring the situation closely and has offered prayers for the victims and law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing as authorities search the rugged terrain west of town for the suspect.
