The incident took place on the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:45 a.m. outside the Salvation Army Queens Temple Corps Community Center, located at 86-07 35th Avenue. According to police reports, an 81-year-old woman was standing in front of the center when a stranger approached her and initiated a verbal dispute. The confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, with the suspect punching the elderly victim in the face. The attack resulted in pain and a laceration for the victim, who was subsequently transported by emergency medical services to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was treated and listed in stable condition. Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The NYPD has released a surveillance image of the individual and is urging the public to assist in his identification. The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion and black hair.
