The incident occurred around 8:35 a.m. on Sunday. According to the NYPD, the 45-year-old victim was waiting for a northbound 5 train when another man pushed him during boarding. The altercation escalated, and the suspect allegedly used an unknown object to slash the victim. The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The suspect remains at large, and investigators are urging the public to remain vigilant. Commuters have expressed concern, with some advising others to avoid distractions like cellphones and to walk away from potential conflicts. One rider, Jeremiah Nuñez, shared that the incident is particularly personal, as his father was stabbed at a nearby subway station a few months prior.
