Rochester police are actively investigating a series of violent shootings that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning near North Clinton Avenue, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old girl and injuries to three other individuals. The victim, identified as Zahnia Barr, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body on Morrill Street and died at the scene. Authorities state she did not appear to be the intended target. The incident began around 10:30 p.m. on Friday when a large, disorderly crowd formed on North Clinton Avenue. As officers worked to clear the area, gunshots were fired within the crowd, leading to the fatal shooting. Over the subsequent hours, additional shootings were reported in the northeast section of the city. A 26-year-old man was shot in the lower body at a hospital around 12:35 a.m., a 38-year-old woman was found shot near Weaver Street at 2:05 a.m., and a 41-year-old man was shot near Norton Street and North Clinton Avenue at 2:18 a.m. All three additional victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Despite the deployment of 75 additional officers from the Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police, no suspects are currently in custody. Rochester Police Chief Dave Smith expressed confidence that a suspect will be identified, citing multiple gunshot spotter activations throughout the night.
