Federal authorities, led by the U.S. Department of Justice in coordination with the DEA, FBI, and HSI, have announced new criminal charges and reward offers totaling more than $100 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of eight high-ranking fugitives associated with the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). The suspects include Juan Carlos Valencia González, also known as “Pelón,” who is currently considered the top leader of the cartel following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes; Audias Flores Silva, known as “Jardinero,” who was arrested in Mexico in April 2026 but remains a target for conviction; and five other senior leaders: Julio César Montero Pinzón, Carlos Andrés Rivera Varela, Hugo Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán, Ricardo Ruiz Velasco, and Julio Alberto Castillo Rodríguez. Additionally, Griselda Margarita Arredondo Pinzón is charged in connection with an international timeshare fraud scheme. These individuals are alleged to be responsible for widespread drug trafficking, money laundering, firearms violations, and violent enforcement operations targeting the United States. The charges were filed in the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of New York. The investigation involves multiple federal agencies, with specific focus on the Eastern District of New York for fraud-related charges and the Los Angeles and New York field offices for narcotics and bilateral investigations. Law enforcement officials emphasize that these actions are part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative to dismantle transnational criminal organizations. The public is urged to contact the FBI or the DEA tip line with any information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives. Rewards range from $2 million to $25 million depending on the individual. The suspects face severe penalties, including up to two consecutive life prison terms for drug and firearms charges, and up to 20 years for fraud-related counts. This announcement marks a significant escalation in the federal government's campaign against CJNG, designating the group as a foreign terrorist organization and targeting its financial and operational infrastructure.
