New York State Police have launched an extensive manhunt for 32-year-old Thomas David Ryan, who is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted in connection with the homicide of his father and the arson of their residence. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at a home located on Greenville Turnpike in Greenville, Orange County. Upon arrival, investigators extinguished a fire at the residence and discovered the body of 70-year-old Robert Ryan inside. A preliminary investigation determined that the fire was deliberately set to conceal the crime, leading police to classify the death as a homicide. Robert Ryan had retired to Orange County, while the rest of the family resides on Long Island; Thomas Ryan did not live with his father at the time of the incident and has no known current ties to the Greenville community. Police describe Ryan as having lived a transient lifestyle, frequently staying at various shelters throughout New York State. He is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen in the Greenville area wearing black sweatpants and a black t-shirt. Authorities believe Ryan may be operating a 2016 gray Toyota Prius with New York license plate HNH-7671, which may belong to the victim. Investigators are also coordinating with rail transportation partners as Ryan is known to travel by train. Surveillance footage, including Ring camera video obtained by ABC News, appears to show Ryan running from the burning house. The New York State Police have deployed extra patrols to Greenville and surrounding communities and are conducting an extensive video canvass to reconstruct the suspect's movements. The victim's daughter, Stephanie Coiro, described her father as a pillar of the community who did not deserve such a fate. Police are urging residents to review any surveillance footage from approximately 6:00 p.m. on Thursday through the overnight hours.
