Washington State Patrol and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound are renewing their appeal for information regarding the 20-year-old hit-and-run homicide of 19-year-old Andy Pellegrino. The incident occurred on July 2, 2006, on State Route 18 near the interchange with State Route 167. Investigators have identified a specific suspect, 43-year-old Saul Cortez-Moreno, who is currently at large. Authorities state that Cortez-Moreno struck Pellegrino while driving a white 1997 Jeep Cherokee and fled the scene, leaving the victim for dead. Despite the passage of two decades, the suspect has not been located or charged. Crime Stoppers Executive Director Jim Fuda emphasized that unlike many cold cases, investigators have a named suspect with local ties, suggesting that community members may know his current whereabouts. The agency is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and charges against Cortez-Moreno.
