Andover Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Friday morning at the La Quinta Inn located on River Road in Andover, Massachusetts. The incident took place shortly after 1:00 a.m. when a woman was approached in the hallway outside her hotel room by a masked man armed with a knife. According to Andover Police Lt. Frank Fitzpatrick, the suspect forced his way into the victim's room, demanded money, and subsequently stole jewelry and a cell phone before fleeing the premises. The victim was not injured during the encounter. Investigators believe the attack was a targeted crime rather than a random act of violence against the general public. Lt. Fitzpatrick stated that indications suggest the suspect specifically targeted the female victim, and there is currently no believed threat to the broader public. The suspect is described as a Black man, approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 in height, with a medium build. He was dressed entirely in black and wore a face covering at the time of the robbery. Upon receiving the report, police responded to the scene, established a perimeter, and deployed detectives to process evidence and review surveillance footage. A K-9 unit and an aerial drone were utilized to search the surrounding area, but the suspect has not yet been located. The case remains under active investigation.
