Woodbridge police are investigating a violent smash-and-grab robbery that occurred Saturday evening at 9lakha Jewelers, resulting in the theft of approximately $1 million in gold and diamonds. The incident took place shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the store located in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Surveillance footage captures the rapid execution of the crime, showing suspects parking outside the establishment before immediately beginning the assault. Within seconds, display cases were shattered using sledgehammers as armed individuals rushed inside to collect merchandise. The owners, Sonu and Sushmita Chauhan, reported that the suspects utilized large plastic bags to transport the stolen goods. The entire robbery was completed in less than 45 seconds. During the chaos, one suspect remained in the getaway vehicle while another held the door open for the others. A customer was seen fleeing the business during the attack. The Chauhans, who opened the jewelry store roughly a year ago, expressed their shock but emphasized their commitment to remaining open for customers to avoid causing panic. They noted that the owners had saved for years to realize their dream of owning the business. Police are actively seeking leads and have not yet identified or arrested the suspects involved.
