Law enforcement officials in North Carolina are actively searching for a third suspect following a high-speed vehicle chase that spanned Craven and Lenoir Counties. The incident began around 6:30 p.m. on Jimmy Smith Road and Highway 55 outside of Dover, where Craven County deputies responded to reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, deputies observed two men discharging firearms. When spotted, the individuals fled in a vehicle, heading toward Lenoir County. During the pursuit, multiple passengers exited the moving vehicle. The driver was eventually apprehended in Lenoir County. Another individual who jumped from the car entered a second vehicle, which was subsequently stopped, leading to an additional arrest. A sheriff’s office K-9 unit assisted in recovering two firearms discarded by the suspects during the escape. Two men have been taken into custody and charged. Davin Best, 24, faces multiple charges including felony fleeing to elude arrest, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting a public officer, possession of marijuana, speeding, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of an open container. Ray-Shawn Wilson, 33, is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting a public officer. Authorities are still attempting to locate the third passenger who fled the scene. This suspect is described as a Black man wearing all black clothing and is known by the nickname “El.” The Craven County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies are urging the public to remain vigilant. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the third suspect is encouraged to contact the investigating agency or submit tips through the appropriate law enforcement channels. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to ensure the capture of the remaining fugitive.
