The New York Police Department is seeking two men in connection with a violent assault that occurred in downtown Manhattan last month. The incident took place on July 31 around 7:30 p.m. on Broadway near West 29th Street. According to police reports, two victims, aged 31 and 37, were walking along the street when they were approached by two male suspects. The assailants allegedly made anti-LGBTQ remarks before repeatedly punching and kicking the victims while shouting homophobic slurs. The suspects then fled south on Broadway. Both victims sustained minor injuries; the younger victim received treatment at the scene, while the older victim was transported to NYU Langone Tisch Hospital. The relationship between the two victims is currently unknown. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault as a possible hate crime. Police have released images of the suspects, describing them as men with dark hair. One suspect was seen wearing dark T-shirts, light-colored sneakers, and black track pants with a white stripe down each side, and was carrying a black bag with two large colored dots. The second suspect was described as wearing dark T-shirts, light-colored sneakers, and blue or gray pants. No arrests have been made as of the time of this report. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the identities or whereabouts of the suspects to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and the NYPD continues to review evidence and witness statements to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this bias-motivated attack.
