Authorities in Gaffney, South Carolina, are actively searching for an unidentified suspect following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at a school bus stop near Gaffney High School. According to police reports, Fair was attempting to board his school bus when another teenager approached him. The two individuals engaged in a physical scuffle, during which Fair was shot. He died at the scene. Approximately 15 students were already on the bus at the time of the shooting. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with passengers jumping out of the bus exit in fear. The suspect reportedly fled the area in a getaway vehicle. As of Thursday morning, law enforcement has not released a physical description of the suspect. The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is assisting the Gaffney Police Department with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the victim as Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr. His family stated that the high school senior was planning to graduate early and was looking forward to becoming a father. In response to the tragedy, extra police officers have been deployed to patrol Gaffney High School and the surrounding neighborhood to ensure student safety. A memorial has been established at the bus stop where Fair was killed. The Gaffney Chief of Police announced a tentative plan to hold a press conference at the school district office around noon on Thursday to provide further updates.
