Sioux Falls Police are actively searching for two suspects wanted in connection with a violent armed robbery and assault that occurred Wednesday morning at a motel located near the intersection of 12th Street and West Avenue. The incident took place around 9:15 a.m. when officers responded to a call from a 39-year-old male victim who reported being attacked in his room. According to police reports, the victim was knocked on the door and, upon opening it, was forced inside by two men. The assailants assaulted the victim, punching him in the head, and proceeded to rob him of his cell phone and other personal property. One suspect, described as a Black male in his thirties with dreadlocks, wore a white or light-gray hooded sweatshirt and pink shorts. This individual kept his hand in his pocket, claimed to possess a firearm, and demanded money from the victim. The second suspect, described as a Native American or Hispanic male in his thirties, wore a black tank top and blue jeans. This individual retrieved a hatchet from inside the room and threatened the victim with the weapon. Following the robbery, both men fled the scene westbound on 12th Street in a blue Kia Soul. Police later located the vehicle near 12th Street and Western Avenue, but no further details regarding the car's disposition have been released. The victim sustained minor facial injuries and did not require hospitalization. As of the latest update, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under active investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or the blue Kia Soul to contact the Sioux Falls Police Department. The suspects are considered at large and potentially dangerous.
