The incident took place early Sunday morning on July 26, specifically on the 1600 block of 12th Street NW. According to police reports, the suspect initially approached the victim by offering a ride. Shortly after the offer was made, the individual allegedly produced a firearm, demanded the victim's belongings, and shot him, despite the victim's full compliance with the demands. The suspect then fled the scene, leaving the victim injured. Authorities confirm that the victim survived the attack and is currently in recovery. Prior to the shooting, surveillance video captured the suspect inside Manny & Olga's Pizza, located on the 1800 block of 14th Street NW, around 4:30 a.m. The footage shows the man ordering food, leaving with a beverage, and walking through the neighborhood. Investigators have released specific physical descriptions to assist the public in identifying the individual. The suspect is described as having a prominent, horseshoe-shaped receding hairline with no bangs and wearing eyeglasses with gold-colored frames. At the time of the incident, he was dressed in a long-sleeved black shirt, shorts, and sneakers. The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or location to come forward.
