The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for William Alej Medina Morazan, a driver from Durham, following a dangerous high-speed pursuit that concluded Thursday, August 13, 2026. The incident began at approximately 1:09 p.m. on southbound Interstate 95 near Four Oaks in Johnston County, when Trooper M.A. Parks attempted to stop a gray Infiniti displaying a fictitious South Carolina registration plate. Although the driver initially pulled over, he accelerated away as the trooper exited his vehicle, initiating a chase that reached speeds of approximately 130 mph. The pursuit continued south toward Harnett County, where the driver navigated behind concrete barriers in a construction zone before taking Exit 79 in Benson. The vehicle became stuck on the shoulder, prompting Morazan to flee on foot. A extensive search operation involving N.C. State Highway Patrol Aviation, Benson Police, Smithfield Police K-9 units, and deputies from Johnston and Harnett counties covered residential and commercial areas near Main Street and I-95. Despite the ground and air efforts, the suspect was not located, and authorities called off the search after two hours.
