Authorities in Gaffney, South Carolina, are conducting an intensive manhunt for Kevon Ken'Dre Covington, 18, who remains at large following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr. The incident occurred on the morning of August 12, 2026, when Fair Jr. was approached by an individual while leaving his apartment to catch a school bus. An altercation ensued, resulting in Fair being shot and pronounced dead at the scene. While one suspect, Reginald Louis Barnes Jr., 17, has been apprehended and charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon, Covington is the primary person of interest still evading capture. Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller has classified Covington as armed and dangerous, urging residents to avoid the Boiling Springs Highway and Oakridge Road area, which have been placed under lockdown.
