Rey Grabato II, the son of incumbent Mina Mayor Rey Grabato and former mayor Lydia Grabato, has been added to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list. US authorities are offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Grabato is accused of orchestrating a massive fraud scheme that defrauded approximately 2,000 investors, including hundreds located in New Jersey, of over $650 million between February 2018 and January 2022. He faces multiple federal charges, including conspiracy to commit securities fraud, securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States with respect to tax. The US District Court in Newark issued a federal warrant for his arrest on October 12, 2022. According to the FBI and the US Department of Justice, Grabato served as president and majority owner of National Realty Investment Advisors LLC, a real estate investment firm based in Secaucus, New Jersey. Investigators allege that he made false representations regarding the value of the company’s investment fund to acquire ownership stakes in companies investing in real estate. Additionally, there are allegations that he attempted to defraud the Internal Revenue Service of $26 million in outstanding tax liabilities over a 15-year period. Grabato is currently at large. His family states that he returned to Mina, Philippines, in May 2022 to recover after undergoing brain surgery in the United States following an accident. The FBI continues to seek his apprehension in connection with these serious financial crimes. Individuals with information regarding his location or activities are urged to contact the appropriate federal authorities. The case highlights the international reach of US financial crime investigations and the ongoing efforts to recover funds lost by victims across multiple jurisdictions.
