Iowa authorities are actively searching for 59-year-old Mark Lee Jackson, who is considered armed and dangerous after allegedly shooting a Muscatine police officer. The incident occurred on Friday evening, August 14, 2026, beginning around 5:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Grandview Avenue in Muscatine. The confrontation escalated from a vehicle pursuit into a foot pursuit, during which officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The injured officer was transported to a medical facility and is currently reported to be in stable condition. Jackson, described by the Muscatine Police Department as being 5-foot-10, weighing 145 pounds, with blue eyes and thinning gray hair, remains at large. He is wanted in connection with the shooting of the officer, as well as for active warrants related to parole violation and second-degree theft. Police are urging the public to exercise extreme caution and not approach or attempt to contact Jackson. Instead, residents and witnesses are encouraged to provide any information regarding his whereabouts to the Muscatine Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit.
