Iowa City police have issued an arrest warrant for 54-year-old Elenzie Porter, a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last November. According to law enforcement reports, the incident took place on November 23rd at a Casey’s store located on North Dubuque Street. During the robbery, Porter allegedly approached the store clerk, demanded money, and threatened to shoot the employee. Investigators state that Porter placed his hand over a bulge in his pocket that appeared to be a firearm, creating a credible threat during the exchange. He successfully fled the scene with approximately $80 in cash. The crime was captured on security video, which provided critical evidence linking Porter to the scene. Additionally, shoes worn by the suspect were identified in the video, and these same shoes were recovered during the execution of a search warrant at Porter’s nearby apartment on East Market Street. Despite the strong evidence, Porter failed to appear for a scheduled case management conference on August 7th. His absence from the court proceeding prompted the issuance of the current arrest warrant. If convicted of the robbery charge, Porter faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any information regarding Porter’s whereabouts.
