A gunman opened fire during the East End Day celebration at Charles Young Park in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Di'Zhon Robertson and injuring four other individuals. According to the Fayette County Coroner's Office, Robertson died at UK Hospital shortly after 7 p.m. The remaining victims include a 4-year-old child, a 14-year-old, and two adults, all of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers addressed the media, noting that while many incidents handled by the department are not random, there is currently no indication that this specific shooting is random. Consequently, police do not believe the community is facing a wide threat. As of Sunday, the Lexington Police Department had confirmed that no arrests have been made and the suspect remains at large. To assist in the investigation, the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, also known as the Uvalde Foundation for Kids, has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the direct identification or arrest of the suspect(s). Foundation founder Daniel Chapin emphasized the severity of the event, stating that one person is dead and four others were wounded, including two children. Residents and witnesses are urged to come forward with any information that could help solve the case.
