Grand Island police are actively searching for a driver suspected of fleeing law enforcement on two separate occasions on August 15, 2026. The suspect is wanted for felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and various traffic violations. The first incident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. on August 15 at the intersection of First and Eddy Streets. During this event, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle observed traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop for a stoplight. The driver responded by fleeing at an even higher speed, failing to stop at a stop sign, and ultimately evading capture. The traffic stop was discontinued due to safety concerns. Charges related to this incident include felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, stop sign violation, traffic signal violation, and speeding. The second incident took place later that same day at 10:26 p.m. at Third Street and Madison Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle for no registration, but the driver again fled at a very high rate of speed, traveling eastbound on Third Street and passing vehicles in the opposing lane. The suspect faces additional charges for this incident, including no registration. Police Division Chief Dean Elliott identified the vehicle involved in both incidents as a black Dodge four-door sedan. Both cases remain open and under active investigation.
