Philadelphia police have released new photographs and details regarding a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Officer Alhassane Barry, a 29-year-old, two-year veteran of the force. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, shortly after 3 a.m., outside an after-hours lounge located on the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue. Officer Barry was struck by gunfire and later succumbed to his injuries. An unidentified 35-year-old male was also shot and remains in critical condition. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore revealed that new evidence indicates the suspect and the victims were inside the lounge prior to the shooting. During this time, a verbal altercation ensued among the three men, which continued as they moved outside. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, but the parties were quickly separated before the suspect opened fire. The suspect is described as a male in his mid-to-late 20s, approximately six feet tall, with a thin to medium build, dark complexion, and medium to bushy cropped hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, light blue surgical mask, and black sneaker-style boots. Notable identifiers include a long key chain hanging from the back of his pants and a large wristwatch. Surveillance video shows the suspect fleeing the area on foot, heading southbound on 73rd Street from Buist Avenue.
