The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, in coordination with the Orange County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office, is seeking three suspects wanted for a multi-state cemetery theft ring. The individuals, identified as Drake Lee Milam, 33; Porsche Bancroft, 32; and Angela Garrett, 52, are all originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, but are believed to be traveling throughout the southeastern United States. Authorities describe the group as 'tomb raiders' who have targeted cemeteries in at least nine states, with 20 known incidents recorded in Florida alone. Investigators suspect the actual number of thefts is higher. The suspects are accused of breaking into cemetery niches containing cremated remains and stealing heirlooms left with the deceased, such as wedding rings and other personal items. Milam and Bancroft are reported to be in a romantic relationship, while Garrett is Bancroft’s mother. All three have active arrest warrants and face extradition back to Florida. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has issued a stern warning to the public, emphasizing the emotional distress caused by the theft of items memorializing loved ones. Central Florida Crimeline is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects. The investigating agencies are urging anyone with information to contact the tip line at 800-423-TIPS (8477). Additionally, families are encouraged to visit the resting places of their relatives to verify that personal items have not been disturbed. The suspects remain at large, and law enforcement continues to search for them across the region.
