Boston police have publicly identified Latavius Owens, a 29-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee, as the victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred inside the MBTA's South Station. The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, during the evening rush hour. According to the preliminary investigation, officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 5:33 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Owens suffering from an apparent stab wound. Police stated that the victim and the suspect, who remains at large, engaged in an altercation on the escalator leading to the station exit. Owens was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Owens is described as a father of five. A GoFundMe page has been established to support his family, with the goal of raising funds to transport his body back to Tennessee so he can be buried with his loved ones. The fundraiser has raised $1,150 toward its $4,500 goal. The investigation into the homicide remains ongoing.
