According to reports from Tuesday, August 18, the suspect engaged in erratic and threatening behavior, including chasing innocent bystanders and filming the encounters, apparently in an attempt to gain viral attention. Captain Jason Smith of the Philadelphia Police Department stated that the assailant targeted six individuals within a span of just 20 minutes. One incident involved a woman who was jogging; the suspect allegedly asked her if she was ready to die, causing her to flee and sustain a leg injury while screaming for help. Prior to these incidents, the man visited a local Dunkin Donuts store shortly after 5:20 am but was refused service due to his disoriented and erratic conduct. Another resident, identified as Jameka, recounted a close encounter where the suspect attempted to accost a jogger near a coffee shop. Jameka intervened by warning the victim, and when the suspect turned his attention to her, she successfully defended herself by kicking him in the chest. Witnesses noted that the suspect appeared disoriented and lacked a clear criminal objective beyond intimidation.
