Worcester police are conducting an active, large-scale manhunt for Karen Solomon, a 58-year-old woman described as armed and dangerous. Solomon is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of her husband, 57-year-old Kurt Solomon, a 31-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, at a residence on Wildwood Avenue in Worcester, Massachusetts. Authorities responded to a medical call for a person down and discovered Kurt Solomon deceased inside the home. Investigators have characterized the event as a domestic incident, which has limited the amount of information officials are able to release publicly due to privacy regulations surrounding domestic violence cases. Karen Solomon is described as having dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pajama shorts and a tank top, walking toward Westcott Street. Police have released Ring camera video showing her movement and urge the public to remain vigilant. Multiple agencies, including the Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security, the U.S. Marshals Office, and the FBI, are assisting in the search. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed the ongoing investigation. Solomon is also noted as the cofounder of Blue H.E.L.P., an organization supporting families of fallen law enforcement officers. The public is asked to contact detectives at 508-799-8651 or text TIPWPD to 274637 with any information regarding her whereabouts. If she is seen, residents are instructed to call 911 immediately.
