The Asheville Police Department is actively searching for Elijah William Poole, an 18-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on July 24. Police have classified Poole as armed and dangerous and urge the public to exercise extreme caution if he is spotted. The investigation centers on an incident at South French Broad Avenue, where officers responded to reports of a gunshot wound victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a teenager suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Poole is currently at large and faces open warrants for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, as well as possession of a firearm by a felon. Authorities describe Poole as a black male standing approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 120 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Given the serious nature of the charges and the classification of the suspect as armed and dangerous, law enforcement has issued strict safety protocols for the community. Residents are explicitly instructed not to approach Poole under any circumstances. If an individual believes they have seen Poole, they are directed to call 911 immediately.
