Newark police are actively searching for two suspects following a violent assault that occurred on Park Street in Newark, New Jersey. The incident took place on the early morning of August 10, 2026, when 43-year-old Henry Fonseca attempted to move his vehicle to get to his overnight warehouse job. Fonseca reported that two men were double-parked next to his car, blocking his exit. After honking his horn and calling the police to have the vehicles removed, the owners of the double-parked cars exited their vehicles and physically attacked Fonseca. According to police and the victim, one suspect punched Fonseca from behind while the other struck him in the face. The assault continued as Fonseca was pinned against his vehicle, with suspects striking his head, back, and chest. Fonseca’s wife intervened to protect her husband but was also struck during the altercation. Fonseca sustained significant injuries, including head trauma, lacerations to the face and nose, and fractured fingers. He is currently unable to work and may require surgery. Authorities have reviewed surveillance video of the attack and have released screenshots of the two men they wish to identify. Police are urging anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact them immediately. The investigation is ongoing, and the Newark Police Department is asking the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to the arrest of the individuals responsible for this unprovoked attack.
