Detectives with the NYPD’s 75th Precinct are actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Brooklyn on the night of August 21, 2026. The incident took place at 899 Crescent Street in the East New York neighborhood, shortly before 10 p.m. Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and a 911 call, arriving to find an unidentified adult male suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and right torso. Despite being rushed to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet made any arrests and continue to seek the individual responsible. Investigators are focusing their search on a black Lexus that fled the scene in an unknown direction immediately following the shooting. While the investigation is ongoing, police are exploring the possibility that the murder was triggered by a road rage incident. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene to aid in the forensic analysis. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. The 75th Precinct is urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or the vehicle involved to come forward.
