The incident occurred on Thursday night, August 20, 2026, at Ridgecrest Cellars Wine and Spirits, where Patel had become the new owner just three days prior. According to the Jackson Police Department, the suspect entered the store, demanded money, and fired several rounds, killing Patel instantly.
