The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at approximately 5:46 p.m. near the intersection of 218 31st Street. According to reports, an unidentified man displayed a firearm and fired a shot toward a male victim. The bullet missed its intended target and instead struck a 7-year-old female dog. The injured animal was transported by private means to a local animal hospital, where it is currently listed in stable condition. The suspect is described as a man with a light complexion. At the time of the incident, he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, camouflage pants, a black hat, and multicolored sneakers. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot, traveling southbound on 5th Avenue toward 36th Street.
