The New York City Police Department is actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a violent assault and grand larceny that occurred in Queens. The incident took place on Monday, August 17, during the evening rush hour. According to police reports, the suspect approached a 35-year-old male victim on an A train bound for Queens as it approached the 88th Street station in Ozone Park. At approximately 5 p.m., the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. During the ensuing physical altercation, the victim dropped his cell phone, which the assailant picked up before exiting the train at the 88th Street station. The suspect then fled the station on foot onto Liberty Avenue and disappeared in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. The NYPD has released surveillance imagery of the suspect, describing him as a male with a light complexion, long dark hair tied in a ponytail, and a full salt-and-pepper beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, blue and white sneakers, black-rimmed eyeglasses, and carrying a black backpack. Authorities are offering a reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to the suspect's arrest and indictment. The 106th Precinct in Ozone Park and Transit District 23 are investigating the case.
