Queens detectives are actively searching for a suspect responsible for the fatal stabbing of 33-year-old Jose Scott. The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, August 23, at approximately 9:45 p.m. The attack took place in front of an auto repair shop located at 220-20 Merrick Blvd. in Laurelton, New York. Scott, who resided on Merrick Boulevard just three doors away from the scene, was found by his mother lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood. According to sources, Scott sustained two stab wounds to his back, a stab wound to his abdomen, and multiple other lacerations. Emergency medical services transported him to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. As of Monday morning, the motive and specific circumstances leading up to the deadly assault remain unknown. Police from the 116th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not yet released a physical description of the potential suspect. The 116th Precinct has reported three homicides year-to-date through August 16. Investigators are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the individual responsible for this violent crime.
