Atlanta police are actively searching for an unidentified gunman wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Derrick Colbert. The incident occurred on the evening of August 3, approximately at 11:47 p.m., at 1247 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW in the downtown area of Atlanta. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered Colbert suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. At this time, investigators have not released specific details regarding potential suspects, a motive, or whether the victim knew his attacker. The Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
